At Storwick Dermatology, we offer two main treatments for excessive sweating, BOTOX® injections and miraDry®
- BOTOX® is the only prescription medicine approved by Health Canada for the treatment of axillary (underarm) hyperhidrosis, which means it is deemed safe and effective when administered correctly by a specially trained medical professional.
- BOTOX® is a purified natural protein obtained from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. BOTOX® works by blocking the chemical signal from the nerve to the target tissue; in the case of hyperhidrosis, the sweat gland. Following treatment, the sweat gland is no longer stimulated by the overactive nerve, so the sweating ceases. And since the drug only works in the area where it is injected, sweat glands in other parts of the body function normally.
- We also offer miraDry as treatment for hyperhidrosis. This is a permanent solution for sweat reduction.
